IFEAT BALI 2019, focus on sustainability and renewable energy

The 2019 international conference of the Federation of essential oils and aroma trade (IFEAT) was held in Nusa Dua, Bali, from 29 September to 3 October 2019. The main theme of the event was Naturals of Asia, with a focus on Indonesia, China, India and Vietnam. Numerous and interesting topics were discussed during the days which, like every year, recorded a strong attendance of public and insiders. This event represents all the sectors of the industry of flavour and fragrances.

Developments and challenges, production and research in essential oils, aromatherapy in Asia, were the most interesting and shared topics by all partners of the conference with special attention to environmental wellness and a steady interest in biodiversity; these discussions have provided positive signs and indications on the directions to take for the coming years.

The 42nd IFEAT conference was also the occasion to present the new management committee. Hussein Fakhry was elected Chairman of the International Federation of essential oils and aromas. He will be supported by Vice Chairmen Jalal Charaf and Stephen Pisano. Fakhry takes over the management from Antonella Corleone of Agrumaria Corleone S.p.a.

"I have spent three memorable years as Chairwoman of the Federation – says Antonella Corleone – and I would like to express my deepest appreciation for all the support I have received during this time. “We can say – continues Antonella – that the mission of creating an independent management of IFEAT begun by my predecessors has finally been achieved and we now have a strong team with new resources to accomplish new projects”.

At the end of the ceremony, Antonella Corleone wished Mr. Fakhry all the best for his work and congratulated him on his new appointment.

The place for the next conference has been chosen: Berlin in 2020. Registration will open in Spring 2020.
